Thanks much for your thoughts and observations. You&#039;re so right -- of all the things public schools rob kids of, self-reliance and self-direction are two of the most troubling. Your comment about it preventing us from growing and developing is something that has become very evident in society -- where are all the grown-ups -- people who know who they are, take personal responsibility, take action, run their own lives? It&#039;s a sad state of affairs, but we can take back our children and our lives and turn the tide -- I truly believe that.

The kind of thinking that is required to become an independent and confident individual is not developed, the prevalent view being that they are incapable of thinking in this way.
